Tyre sealants are not a new industry product, in fact, many have been available for many years, and were originally designed for slow-moving plant and construction vehicles as for use up to speeds of 15-20mph.
It was not long before manufacturers tried to use tyre sealants in higher speed vehicles, however after independent industry testing and due to their weak construction, most of these simple "fell apart" at speeds of 40 mph and over.
The My Puncture Shield team have been working with top industry chemists for over 20 years to design a product that not only has been proven to work by sealing punctures as they happen but also conditions the inner casing, maintains the correct air pressure and has been independently tested at speeds up to 150mph. Using the latest advanced chemistry in our processes enables us to bond the molecules of the sealant together at speeds up to 150mph. Previously available products, and most current ones, simply "fall apart" at around 55-65mph due to their construction.
My Puncture Shield does not have any of the failings that previous and many present products have. Apart from drying and balling up in the tyre, the biggest failings of traditional tyre sealants in a high-speed tyre, are their inability to seal small holes. However, due to their construction and containing large chunks of chopped up rubber, these sealants were able to seal larger holes and slits as a temporary measure but were ineffective and unsafe for smaller holes and for higher speed vehicles.
95% of today’s punctures are found in the tread area, where there is no cord damage. The tiny strands of coarse surface synthetic fibres used in My Puncture Shield are stronger than steel when they interlock tightly together, creating rubber recovery and positively sealing smaller holes caused by puncturing objects in the tread area of the tyre up to 6mm in diameter.
Any punctures that occur that are bigger, or high in the tyre sidewall, either with or without cord damage, the My Puncture Shield fibres allow air to slowly bleed through the hole, giving a controlled deflation, preventing damage to wheel rims and helps the driver maintain control and continuation of the journey to remove the vehicle from a possibly dangerous situation.

My Puncture Shield has the ability to coat more of the inner surface of a tyre and rim without succumbing to shear and stress associated with the centrifugal force that is created within a high speed rotating tyre, converting any pneumatic tyre into a self-sealing tyre, that maintains air pressure.
The My Puncture Shield Research & Development team have developed an unrivalled proprietary process that has yet to be duplicated, making it different from any other tyre sealant available on the market today.
On installing My Puncture Shield, the gel lies dormant at the bottom of the tyre until the vehicle is first driven. Once driven (we advise a minimum of three to five miles), My Puncture Shield disperses throughout the tyre and forms a coating on the inner surface of the tyre assembly on the treaded areas and the inside walls. The flexing of the tyre and the normal heat build-up allows My Puncture Shield to seek out and eliminate air loss problems (referred to as porosity, air migration and bead leaks). My Puncture Shield then transforms the tyre assembly into a sealed air chamber, maintaining the correct air pressure within.
Whilst installed in the tyre, My Puncture Shield will condition the rubber eliminating dry rot and ageing (hardening) of the casing, providing additional longevity and cooler running tyres for the legal tread life of the tyre.
The advanced sealing capabilities of My Puncture Shield protects and seals punctures as they happen. When a tyre is punctured, My Puncture Shield coats the surface of the penetrating object, preventing air loss.
When the puncturing object is removed, the rubber recovers and the wound immediately closes, as the escaping air pushes the My Puncture Shield Gel into the hole.
The My Puncture Shield fibres then entwine to create a clot that prevents any additional air from escaping. As the rubber recovers, the puncture closes, and the strength of the tyre holds the gel seal in place allowing the specialised polymers and fibres to bind together to produce an airtight seal.
There will be a small amount of My Puncture Shield that penetrates through the puncture, and out through the tread area (this is referred to as a seal). Once exposed to the atmosphere, the seal begins a systematic cure, making a positive secure seal that is impervious to water, which totally protects the belts and inner casing from outside contaminants and corrosion.
My Puncture Shield’s formulation is one of our closely guarded secrets, this formulation allows My Puncture Shield to withstand heat and the shear forces created within a rotating tyre.
The polymers stretch and recovers under mild to severe exposure of the adverse forces, continuously clinging to the inner tyre. The ability to coat the inner surface against adverse conditions and centrifugal force is the reason that My Puncture Shield will not adversely affect a balanced tyre assembly and does not lose the ability to protect the tread life of the tyre.
The abilities and performance of My Puncture Shield are not diminished with speed, distance or time.
The seal is permanent because of two especially important attributes of My Puncture Shield.
Because of the makeup of our product, no shrinkage of the drying polymer occurs in the puncture as our gel is constructed as 80% polymers and only 20% liquid. It is very common for similar tyre sealants to be the other way around with 20% polymer and 80% liquid. These are normally less expensive and for use as temporary fixes.
When the My Puncture Shield gel dries and cures to a firm, flexible, and rubber consistency, the seal will flex with the puncture causing no air loss over time, leading to a permanent fix.
